Gill Allwood is Professor of Gender Politics at Nottingham Trent University and Visiting Professor at the College of Europe in Bruges. She is author of French Feminisms: Gender and Violence in Contemporary Theory (UCL Press 1998); and co-author with Khursheed Wadia of: Women and Politics in France: 1958-2000 (Routledge 2000); Gender and Policy in France (Palgrave 2009) and Refugee Women in Britain and France (Manchester University Press 2010). She has published articles on gender-based violence, gender mainstreaming and EU policy, including international development, migration and climate change. She has produced reports for the Brussels-based federation of international development organisations, CONCORD, the European Parliament and the Federation of European Progressive Studies (FEPS), and has given keynote speeches and participated in panels of experts on gender mainstreaming and the European Green Deal at the United Nations 66th Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) in New York in 2022 and the European Commission’s Department for Regional and Urban Policy (DG REGIO)’s Just Transition Platform in 2021. She was Editor of Modern and Contemporary France, 2011-2021, and of the Journal of Contemporary European Studies, 2014-18, and is on the International Advisory Board of the European Journal of Politics and Gender.
